Getting your glass right the first time starts with a clear, accurate template. Follow these guidelines so our fabrication team can process your order quickly and precisely (no pricing needed).
What we need in your template
Approved template materials
MDF, hardboard (Masonite) or coreflute/corflute only (clean; no nails/staples; max two layers).
Label every template
Include Customer Name and Order Number in a legible spot.
Clearly mark the face side of the glass on your drawing/template.
If a logo/stamp location matters, mark it and add dimensions. (See Metroglass order-drawing best practice.)
Identify the glass
Write the full glass type (e.g., 5 mm Clear Float Toughened). Avoid internal codes.
Finished shape & size
Cut the template to the final finished outline. Please don’t add/subtract sizes—our operators will cut to your template.
Show any extra processing
Mark what you need and where:
Holes (sizes + centres)
Cut-outs / notches (with radii)
Edgework (e.g., RA rough arris, FG flat grind, FP flat polish)
Radius corners (note radius)
Stamp location if critical
(These details align with NZ shop practice and Metro’s order-drawing rules.)
Traced templates (paper)
Traces are acceptable if the outline is crisp and you state which side of the pen line we should finish to (inside/outside).
Shaped edges vs straight edges
By default, we manufacture corner-to-corner straight edges unless otherwise noted.
If any edge must follow a curved/irregular template, write “CUT TO TEMPLATE ON THIS EDGE” along that edge.
Shaped edges are processed at our shaped-polish rate (no pricing shown here).
